Hidden Safari

For this project, we were shown that anyone can draw. We created a hidden image that could only been seen with our cool glasses. We were given a choice to pick any safari animal we wanted from a stack of papers, I chose an elephant. I then took my picture and turned it upside down. When the picture is turned upside down, we are forced to look at the lines and shapes that make up the picture and not at the picture itself. When kids say they can't draw, just tell them not to look at the picture as a whole, but to look at the lines and shapes that make up that picture. They will still be constantly comparing their picture to the original, so have them turn the picture upside down.
I began to draw very lightly with a light blue colored pencil (cool colors). After I finished my drawing I took red, orange, and yellow crayons (warm colors) and created a pattern over top of my drawing. It has to be a pattern, something to evenly cover the drawing and to draw the eye away from the picture beneath.
After the drawing, I began creating my very own cool pair of glasses. These glasses are magical and allow you to see through the warm colors to the cool colors beneath. I created them by using a pattern, you can use any pattern to create a pair of glasses. I cut out the pattern first on construction paper and then on red clear-lay paper. After that I glued the two pieces together. Tada! You have your very own glasses that can see the magic picture beneath.
